Going around the halls with him, you might hear him called many different names. From his preferred nickname AJ to the absurd Asap Johansson. Never called by his full name, Alexander Hamby is a sophomore at East with high ambitions in the music industry, hoping to one day be among the main players in the game.

How did you come up with your nickname?

“I’ve been called AJ ever since I was little, so I don’t quite know how I got my nickname, but I’ve hears some stories about how I was named, but I never quite reached a solid conclusion,” Hamby said.

How’s your time at East been so far?

“It’s been a decent two years at East, although not everything has gone as I originally planned, it’s going well now,” Hamby said.

What do you want to be when you when you grow up, “I want to be a music producer/artist, which basically means, a person who makes the music sounds or beats, think Pi’erre Bourne, or any other popular producer tags you can hear at the start of songs,” Hamby said.

Where do you see yourself after graduating?

“After I graduate, I hope to get a degree in sound audio engineering, in simple terms it would allow me to become a music producer,” Hamby said.

Do you know why you want to be a music producer?

“The answer is simple, I enjoy music since it is one of the main things I love in life,” Hamby said.

Who is your favorite music producer?

“Blank Ideation has to be my favorite producer,” Hamby said.

Do you have any message or quote you want to get off your chest?

“It would have to be this quote by Master Oogway, ‘If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than you are now’, “ Hamby said.
