Kids in Gaza are now finally celebrating after the news broke about the ceasefire after the year long conflict between Israel and Palestine, but this won’t last for long, and it won’t replace the lives that have been lost since 1948.
Even though there’s been a temporary ceasefire put into on by the government, Israel is known for notoriously breaking ceasefires on their part, no matter if it’s as small as expelling Palestinians from their home, or even bombing homes, according to Aljazeera in a data report it has been recorded that from 2012-2014 Israel violated the ceasefire negotiations 191 times.
Now what is a ceasefire you may ask? According to the Oxford dictionary, temporary suspension of fighting, typically one during which peace talks take place, a truce.
According to English Wafa, 62,000 thousand Palestinians have died and over 10,000 Palestinians have gone missing since Oct. 7, 2023, how many children, inspiring artists, doctors, mothers, etc. Must be mutilated or killed for the government to start caring? According to Harvard, babies in Gaza are getting Polio due to not being able to have the resources for vaccines. The Israeli government has been restricting all aid to Palestine specifically Gaza. Doctors are having to choose which patient is the most injured to take care of, due to the lack of resources.
They are running out of doctors to take care of injured patients because so many of them are dying from the constant bombing. A New York times article interviewed 65 heath care professionals on Oct. 9, 2024, one emergency nurse was inside Gaza while the war started.
“Pediatric gunshot-wound patients were treated on the floor, often bleeding out on the floor of the hospital due to lack of space, equipment, staff and support. Many died unnecessarily,” Nina Ng said.
I have talked to people who have claimed that death in war is a natural part of life, but they never seem to really care about the people themselves, the memories they’ve created with their family, hugging their grandma, the smell of Tamriyeh when you entered the house, going outside with your nephews to play soccer, going to lunch at school with your friends while laughing so hard you could barely breathe.
It’s almost like it’s all different now, majority of their families died from the bombings from the Israel army. It seemed like you took grandma’s hug for granted while not knowing it would be your last, not being able to walk through your house because all what’s left is rubble on the ground and the only thing you smell is broken bricks instead of food, there’s no safe space to play soccer with your nephews, and not being able to laugh with your classmates because they all were killed except for you.
That is a daily norm in Palestine now, the people who are supposed to be full of life are now struggling to continue their day without worrying about dying, so many individuals were bleeding out to death while Israels government has done little to stop it, An NBC news article on Oct. 28. 2024 said “Israel’s parliament voted Monday to ban the operations of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, the main humanitarian aid agency operating in Gaza.”
This isn’t the first time Palestine has gone through oppression, during 1948 over 700,000 Palestinians fled or were kicked out of their houses by Israeli soldiers, which caused many Palestinians to only have their key in their hand for proof of residency due to the forced uprooting cause by Israeli military force.
Palestinians have never been able to live in peace ever since 1948, there’s been so many attacks on Palestine that I’m unable to count, but the same people who have been constantly attacked and ethnically cleansed, still continue to be welcoming and accepting to anybody that comes their way.
Zionists go deeper than I can even write, there’s so much history the history on how Zionism has been pushed to be associated with Judaism and their culture / religion when personally I’ve met many non-Zionist Jewish people enough to know it’s not a Jewish belief it’s an ideology.
Even with the rampant Zionist propaganda in Israel, there are still Jewish people living there who don’t have Zionist beliefs and it would be hypocritical to mandate a similar situation like the Nakba I personally believe due to the fact one state solution would never work in real word terms, even though thats what I would prefer, I think there should be a two state solution.
The definition term of two state solution a proposed approach to resolving the Israeli Palestinianfinished palestine conflict, by creating two states on the territory of the former Mandatory Palestine. Which will essentially attempt to put a stop on both sides violence.
I do hope one day in the near future there will be a two-state solution, so Palestinians can finally be treated how they should been treated all along.
I will continue to hope for a cease-fire until I no longer am able to, because no matter what side you’re on you should at least agree the Palestinian people should have the right to live and be able to own their own land.
When you finish this article, I hope you can become more open minded and agree for a permanent ceasefire, something that the martyers in Gaza who died were never able to do.
