The lights dim and the spotlight flickers on. Mic taped and the costumes fitted well. Feet tapping on concrete and consistent breathing. Pencils scribbling against paper and eyes concentrated on the board. This is how senior Anya Caulfield has spent her years at East High School.
Anya Caulfield is very dedicated to theatre and acting her heart out.
“Anya has been dedicated to theatre and to performing on stage. She has grown and developed a strong sense of character development and leadership,” English teacher Ginger Johnson said.
Caulfield makes many memories with her hilarious personality.
“One memory I have with Anya is from the musical “Cinderella,” there was a scene where she had to act angry and ‘slap’ someone and it was intense. I was so impressed with her acting and how she made the scene come to life,” choir teacher Cameron White said.
As Caulfield is involved with school, she always dedicates her free time to hanging out with people she is close with.
“I would say one of my favorite memories was our first valentine day together and we also went on our first date with only us. It was super fun, and I will never forget my first valentine day I didn’t spend with my mom,” senior Essence Ferguson said.
Caulfield has so much love for choir and expresses it clearly.
“My favorite thing in choir would be the community I’ve been introduced to. I’ve met so many amazing people including the teacher as well as my peers. I have grown to love choir so deeply and will miss it once it’s gone,” Caulfield said.
Caulfield joined cross country with her friend and ended up adoring it.
“I had grown to love the sport as well as my coach and team,” Caulfield said.
Through her years in cross country, Caulfield took much leadership.
“During Anya’s senior cross-country season, I saw her take more of the leadership role on our team by leading by example and pushing herself during practice and meets,” cross-country coach Linnea DeWaard said.
As Caulfield moves onto greater things, she is extremely excited to pursue her dream job.
“After I graduate, I’m going to a community college for my core credits then a university to hopefully receive a degree in something related to forensics,” Caulfield said.
