Many people love spending their free time baking sweets, filling their homes with the comforting smell of fresh cookies or cakes. Yet, there are still plenty who have never given baking a try, often held back by the fear that they won’t be good at it. But how can you know for sure unless you try? As Remy from Ratatouille wisely said, “Anyone can cook” and the same is true for baking.
Ingredients: ½ Cup unsalted butter softened ¾ Cup sugar 1 Large egg 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract 1½ Cups all-purpose flour ½ Baking soda ½ Teaspoon pumpkin pie spice.
Directions: 1: To start off, you’re going to want to preheat the oven to 350°F and add a line of baking sheet with parchment paper, this step is important, it will help our cookies by preventing them from sticking.
2: After that, we’ll need a large bowl, once you’ve got a large bowl, you’re going to soften our butter and our sugar. To do this step we need to use an electric mixer. You’re going to add the soften butter and sugar into the large bowl which should take around 2-3 minutes or until the texture of it is fluffy and light.
3: Once we get the texture we want, go ahead and add in one egg and the vanilla extract into the large bowl, mix it in until everything is fully combined.
4: Now, get a separate bowl and add in the baking soda, all-purpose flour and pumpkin pie spice and whisk it together. Once you’ve finished whisking it, you have to mix the wet ingredients with the dry ones, but don’t dump everything right away, you want to add your dry ingredients into the bowl of wet ingredients gradually while mixing on low speed.
5: Once you have everything combined, make sure you don’t accidently over mix, the consistency of the dough must be soft and not sticky. After you feel the dough is soft enough, roll it into small balls and place onto a prepared baking sheet. (The balls should be around a tablespoon each and leave around two inches max for space between the cookies).
6: Now for the fun part, actually baking the cookies. For this step you want to put the cookies into the oven and let them bake for around 10-12 minutes to get those edges crispy and our center nice and soft, (they’ll be firm as they finish cooling down) or you can take them out once you get your desired texture.
7: The final steps are letting them cool down, grab a piece of baking sheet and transfer them onto the baking sheet and let them cool down for around six minutes and then you can put them on a wire rack to let them completely cool down and congratulations, you’ve just made some of the tastiest cookies ever.
