Finding your personal style is hard. Living in Iowa and figuring out how to dress when the weather is always changing is even harder. Since this is something, I personally struggle with, here is my personal style guide on how to dress according to the season and the weather changes that come with it.
Summer:
Summer weather is almost always hot. Because of this you will want to wear things that are light, airy and breathable. This hot weather is also a good excuse to try out new hairstyles like cute updo’s to keep the hair off your neck. Since the color black attracts the sun and can make you hotter easier, summer is a great time to wear fun bright colors. Some colors I like wearing during the summer are pink, green, yellow, and orange because they remind me of summer, but any colors are fun. The last thing to cover is shoes, and while I do recommend open-toed shoes in the summer due to the heat, you can wear whatever works for the day.
Spring:
Spring is like the chill version of summer, so the weather is still nice but not as hot, and it is always raining. For the nice weather, some good outfit pairings are jeans and a cute tank top with a light cardigan. Although if tanks are not your style, then T-shirts are always good, too. Keep in mind though it rains a lot during spring so make sure you carry around a hoodie or an umbrella on you and try wearing closed-toe shoes, although if the weather is nice enough, sandals will be cute with some outfits.
Winter:
Winter is always cold and snowy. Because of this, students are always bundled up and it can be hard to get creative with outfits. There is a solution to this problem though, and that is hair and accessories. Winter is a great time to experiment with your hair and accessories because even if your outfit is plain or lazy, you can always dress it up with a cute hairstyle. Some cute hairstyles I recommend trying are half up half downs, low side pony’s and low double buns. You could pair these with cute hair pins and headbands. Some other cute accessories you could use are purses, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Pair these outfits with some cute sneakers or winter boots and you are ready to go.
Fall:
Fall is the season between summer and winter, meaning it is cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon. So, what do you wear in weird weather like this? Like spring, a tank top/ T-shirt and jeans are cute, but be sure to pair it with a sweater to keep you warm. Another outfit combo that is cute is skirts and stockings with a sweater and some cute boots. Pair this with some leg warmers and a cute hairstyle and you are done! Although, if you are not comfortable in skirts, I would recommend something like the first option and to dress it up try out some cute hair styles and never forget to accessorize. Keep in mind your style is unique to you, and these are just some suggestions to help you find that style in the case you might be struggling to do so. Remember that everyone is different and what one person likes you might not, and that is okay! Find what you like and build on that.
