Did you have any doubts during your senior year? If so, how did you overcome it?
Yes, throughout my whole senior year I’ve doubted myself. I had to learn not to only trust my capabilities but also trust that my peers were truly there to support and guide me.
How do you feel knowing that this year you’ll be graduating?
I feel scared because from here on out every decision I make comes with a consequence, I will have to take on yet I feel excited to start this new chapter of my life in which I get to experience adulthood.
Did you ever think you weren’t going to be able to graduate on time?
No, I was always confident in my academic capabilities and knew I would make it to graduation.
Has this senior year been able to change you in a way you never expected?
Yes, my freshman year I was very reserved and rarely allowed new people into my life. I was very protective of myself, which came from trauma. Thanks to my besties V and A who’em welcomed me back to east, I experienced true friendships that gave me kindness and respect. Thanks to them I became a better student, friend, sister, daughter, and most importantly, a better me to myself.
What are your plans for after high school?
. I plan on going to university, starting businesses but most of all I plan on traveling as much as possible.
What’s your most valuable lesson Highschool taught you?
I think the most valuable lesson high school taught was expect the unexpected. There’s going to be moments in which the most random thing happens, where you get hurt, where you heal, where you win, or where you lose. Be comfortable not knowing what’s next.
Who’s someone that has impacted your Highschool experience?
So many people have impacted me. Specifically, two friends. One taught me the importance of being independent and strong. The other one taught me that there’s kind people in the world and that it’s okay to trust.
What advice Would you give these upcoming freshmen?
I know everyone says time goes by fast but it’s true. Never once did I think i would go through so much so quickly so learn to live day by day. Do what you want without worrying about others judgement.
How has this senior year impacted you?
My senior year has taught me to trust, to heal, to live day by day, and to put myself first. I think it’s important to take every situation day by day in order to prioritize your well-being and make the best decisions.
