Around this time of year, many seniors are ready for graduation and go to college to start a brand-new chapter in their lives. This includes senior Davina Saengkeo. Saengkeo graduates on May 23 and is ready for new opportunities to come her way.
Saengkeo was born in Des Moines Iowa on June fifth, 2008. Her mom is from Thailand, and her dad is from Laos. Saengkeo also has four brothers. Saengkeo is interested in things like baking and reading books. Saengkeo spends her free time hanging out with her friends, going shopping, cooking, working out, relaxing at home, and especially listening to music. Saengkeo is open to all different kinds of music genres.
“I like listening to a mix of music, mostly rap, R&B, pop and many more. It honestly just depends on how I’m feeling that day,” Saengkeo said.
When you first talk to Saengkeo, she can be shy but once you warm up to her she is a very talkative and funny; she’s always smiling about anything, her attitude is positive and she is very mindful about people and their feelings, she’s almost never in a bad mood.
“Davina is shy, energetic, and a sweet person. She can be very soft-spoken at first but the more you get to know her, she’s really energetic, funny and loud. Her energy is at full peak when it comes to something she likes; she can talk about it for hours seeming like it will never leave her mind. Her kindness is so sweet, she truly has a big heart full of empathy for people, especially those she loves,” junior Alexander Puentes-Soto said.
After graduation, Saengkeo plans on attending LA ‘James International College in Johnston for cosmetology. She plans on focusing on nails and makeup. Saengkeo is excited about this opportunity but is also nervous about leaving East High School and her friends.
“East has impacted me by helping me grow as a person. I’ve learned more about myself, met different people, and had experiences that shaped my perspective on certain things. But I’m really going to miss my friends the most and the memories we made at East, even the small everyday moments, are things I’ll probably look back on,” Saengkeo said.
Although Saengkeo will miss East High School and her current friends, she is ready for the next chapter of her life; new friends, new experiences, new career.
